Software Engineering design primarily for existing/ sustaining products including: revise existing software code to accommodate hardware changes. Write and revise DO-178 software documentation (SCI, PSAC, SVCP, SVR, SRD).Run SVCP to gain data for SVR. Troubleshoot and solve software functional issues associated with customer returns. Troubleshoot and solve software functional issues associated with production test fixtures. Outside interface for software technology and customer requirements as well as providing subject matter expertise. Provide technical support and guidance to development engineering in terms of design reviews and associated risk management activities. This position is supervised by the Sustaining Engineering Manager, and reports up through the quality organization. Accountable to generate accurate software design and documentation embodying the design at a brisk pace. Accountable to support sustaining engineering activities with subject matter expertise. Accountable to keep running list of programs involved in and schedule of requirements within same. Accountable to effectively manage time around several simultaneous projects; project work involves project management, customer and internal communication, and task coordination, in addition to design work itself. Accountable to provide good faith estimates of project time and cost required. Accountable to produce rapid yet accurate decisions autonomously within the scope of technical direction provided by immediate supervisor. Accountable to train lower level engineers, interns, and technicians.
Requirements
7 years hands-on, software engineering experience in a product development environment. 3 years of experience in aviation software engineering work in a development and/or sustaining environment. 3 years experience within an electronics manufacturing environment for aviation equipment. Experience with FAA and regulatory design requirements including DO-178. Strong embedded C- programming background. Ability to understand the electrical aspects of designs. Ability to troubleshoot at the system level (operate a scope, other test equipment, trace signals, etc.). The ability to work independently from a software perspective and with a team from a system perspective. Proven track record of successful designs, released to production (on time and within budget). Proficient with MS Office.
Education
BSSE or equivalent engineering degree.
